To start the day, we visit Shwezigon pagoda- the most important reliquary Shrine in Bagan, a centre of Prayer and reflection for the new Theravada faith King Anawarahta. Then we move to Kansitta “Cave” temple which served as a place of lodging for monks. Its long dark corridors are painted with murals, some of which depict the Mongul soldiers. Equally beautiful, Gubyaukgyi “cave” temple is famous for fine frescoes of “jataka tales”. Our last stop in the morning is Htilominlo – the last Bamar style temple built in Bagan, with old murals and friezes.
